It has been a while since we updated the blog. We have been too busy really but here is a quick run down of the past two months.
JP turned 34 on 10th October. We spent the week-end near Kielder in Northumberland with our friends Sarah and Alex. As we had to drive a long way down to Kielder, Sarah and Alex sorted out the food, including a nice birthday cake. Thanks guys! JP got some new cycling gear as birthday present and we therefore went mountain biking in Kielder forest. Look below: helmet+sweat=new haircut, lovely…
At the end of October, we spent two weeks of holiday in France. We took the ferry from Hull in England to Zeebrugge in Belgium. (Hull is a loonnnnggggg drive from Inverness by the way…) We stayed at JP’s parents who were away for the first week. We had a good time doing not much but walking the dog, visiting some of JP’s old friends and the towns in the vicinity. Here are photos from Bouillon in Belgium and a terrace of the castle in Sedan (biggest fortified castle in Europe). There are a few more photos in the gallery.
Jenny’s sister, Suzy, and her husband Dean came to spend a week-end with us in early November. They were fairly lucky with the weather (but it was cold) and we went on a few good walks, especially Glen Affric and the Corrieshalloch gorge. JP and Dean went into town one evening hoping to match a boxing match on TV and ended up doing a pub crawl… There are a few more photos in the gallery.
The following week-end Sarah and Alex came to give us a hand with the DIY upstairs. It took a while to strip walls and plasterboard the ceiling but it would have been hopeless without their help. Thank you so much! Their boxer puppy, Rosie, looks lovely and innocent but she almost killed one of our chickens (Heidi). She actually drew blood; appearances can be deceptive…
The last week end in November, we flew to England for the wedding of two Jenny’s friends from University: Nadia and Paul. Great afternoon despite the rather wet weather. The ceremony was very touching and the reception (and food!) very nice. It was also the opportunity to catch up with friends who we do not see very often (some of whom are now living abroad in Australia and came back for the occasion). Nads and Paul, we wish you all the best for your married life. Congratulations again!!
That’s it for now. We will try to post another update before Christmas…
